Toubkal Express 2 days

Toubkal is the highest mountain in the Moroccan High Atlas and North Africa 4167m in height. Located 70 km south of Marrakech, near the Sahara, enjoy the sun most of the year, but the altitude makes the temperature pleasant for hiking even in the height of summer. The hiking (with pack of mules) we propose is a circuit around the massif. After the first stages in inhabited valleys where we will know the Berber civilization, we will approach a wilder area, with a final bouquet, the ascent (easy, but optional) of Jebel Toubkal.

2 Days Walking Atlas Mountains from Marrakech

During the Berber Village Exploring you will spend 2 days with the Berber people of the Atlas Mountains. Your journey will start in the beautiful Imnan Valley, with its terraces and small towns set into the hillsides.
The Berber people are a very ancient people that predate the arrival of the Arabs and Islam. Their lifestyles have grown in harmony with their beautiful, but severe environment. Berber food has kept them strong for the mountains: it consists of breads, soups and barley products in the main – and only the Berbers themselves can make it. Many Berbers make their homes from pise, which is a combination of stone and mud, for their families, which tend to be large.
Before you get back to Imlil village to pick you up back again to Marrakech to have more time if you like to explore othere parts of Morocco

Trip Overview

Day 1

After an early breakfast at the hotel in Marrakech, we will pick you up and take you to the heart of Morocco’s High Atlas mountains. This trek starts from Imlil (1740m), a small Berber village 67km from Marrakech. Here you will meet the team who will accompany you during this short but amazing adventure. The driver will drop us off in the village and the muleteers will collect your luggage, food and all the other equipment. We start the walk with an experienced mountain guide through the Berber villages following a mule track which will take you to the mountain hut via shrine Sidi Shamharoche (2500m). Here you will have your picnic lunch prepared in advance by our cook. After lunch and short break, we will continue towards the refuge (2300m). The shower is available to clean your body and be ready for the next day. Option: the night could be spent on the tent in summer time. Walking: 6 hours
